We are very satisfied with the operation of Lease a Bike. They are always equally friendly and helpful. Everything was explained very well and they made sure we could go get our bikes from the bike shop very quickly. Highly recommended!

Why a speed pedelec?

The time when we were startled by the strange noise behind us on the cycle path is over. By now, we all know that this is when we have to step aside for a speedpedelec. And you can lease those too, which makes the speedpedelec more accessible to a lot of people.

Lease a Bike: how does it work?

Speedpedelec versus e-bike

The big difference from a regular e-bike is the speed. Whereas a standard electric bike provides assistance up to a maximum of 25 km/hour, with a speed pedelec it is up to 45 km/hour. Thanks to the speed pedelec, commuting by bike is now also feasible for those who live further from the office. Of course, even with a speedpedelec you do have to adhere to the speed limit, such as in a 30 zone.

If you are leasing a speed pedelec for the first time instead of a regular e-bike, take into account the heavier power. Other road users often misjudge your speed, so anticipate in traffic. Remember that if you lease a speedpedelec, you are required to wear a helmet. By the way, you can only use a speedpedelec from the age of 16, because you need a driving licence for it, one of a moped or car. By the way, did you know that every speedpedelec must be registered with the Vehicles Department and have a number plate? With Lease a Bike, the bike dealer takes care of this, so you don't have to worry about it.

The purchase price of a powerful speed pedelec also tends to be higher than that of a traditional e-bike. Add to that the cost of theft insurance and breakdown assistance, and the price tag adds up nicely. If you lease a speed pedelec, you will not have these additional costs. They are included in your leasing agreement. For 36 months, you pay a fixed monthly amount. That amount depends on the value of the bike, your monthly salary and a possible contribution from your employer, among other things.

Speedpedelec & bike allowance

A speedpedelec contributes to greener mobility and so you are entitled to the tax benefits that are also associated with an (electric) bicycle, for example. In addition, your employer may grant you a bicycle allowance. Mind you, he is not obliged to do this, it is a favour, an extralegal benefit. Up to 0.25 cents per kilometre is also tax-free. So it pays to talk to your employer about a well thought-out mobility plan so that you and your colleagues can lease a speedpedelec.
